Castello di Gargonza, located in the Tuscan hills, is a fortified village dating back to 1200. It is only 10 minutes from Monte San Savino, near Arezzo.

Encircled by an antique wall, the castle offers apartments which have been carefully restored by the owner family to retain their original style: Roberto Guicciardini Corsi Salviati.

The resort accommodates guests in the village and in the antique mill, offering luxury rooms and apartments, common areas and a panoramic garden with a private pool.

The castle also offers rooms and apartments for overnight stays with breakfast, a restaurant with typically Tuscan food, convention facilities, a private pool and a romantic church for ceremonies and weddings.

Castello di Gargonza is an excellent location for anyone looking for a completely relaxing vacation, far from city stress, somewhere it is possible to read a good book, enjoy nature, visit small villages rich in art and history, and of course, taste Tuscan culinary specialities.

Day 4: Tour of the Chianti - Siena - Monteriggioni - San Gimignano - Greve in Chianti km 220

The entire day is dedicated to a tour of the Chianti. The first stop is Siena. The road leads to San Gimignano, with a pause at Monteriggioni.

Monteriggioni, elevated on a small hill, is entirely surrounded by a medieval wall. The town was constructed in the 13th century by the reigning powers in Siena.

Apart from limited restoration in the 16th century, the wall and the surrounding construction remains in original condition, and it is considered to be the finest of its type in Italy. It is therefore no surprise to hear that tourists, architects and archaeologists are attracted by its beauty.

After visiting Monteriggioni, the tour proceeds to San Gimignano. The town is built on the side of a hill, rising to 325 m with views across the Vald'Elsa.

San Gimignano is known as the City of Towers. It is one of the most beautiful and best conserved medieval towns in Italy.

After a tour of San Gimignano, the voyage continues towards Greve in Chianti, the heart of the Chianti. Pause at Castello da Verrazzano for wine and oil tastings. Optional lunch at Ristorante da Verrazzano, situated on the piazza of the same name.

After lunch, tour of Macelleria Falorni, an antique butcher with a huge display of pork and boar hams hung from the ceiling rafters. Greve is the birthplace of Giovanni da Verrazzano, the man who discovered the Bay of New York.
