Day 1: Palermo
Independent arrival at pre-booked hotel.
Check-in and overnight stay.
Day 2: Palermo - Monreale - Optional: Monte Pellegrino - Mondello
After breakfast, a half-day guided tour of Palermo, the capital of Sicily. The tour commences in the historic centre of Palermo at the Royal Palace, the Palatina Chapel and the Cathedral.
Afterwards there is the opportunity to visit Monreale, famous for the Byzantine mosaics in its Cathedral.
Optional trip to Monte Pellegrino in the afternoon, where a spectacular view of the city, the mountains and the sea await you. The sanctuary of Saint Rosalia, patron of the city, is also here.
Goethe described Monte Pellegrino as the most beautiful promontory in the world.
Conclude the tour with a visit to Mondello, a small fishing village with splendid beaches.
Overnight stay in hotel in Palermo.
Day 3: Palermo - Segeste - Erice - Selinunte - Agrigento
After breakfast in the hotel, a visit to one of the most beautiful archaeological sites in Sicily, Segresta, and the majestic doric temple.
The tour proceeds to the medieval city of Erici at the summit of Monte San Giuliano. Of particular interest are the Norman castle and the Cathedral.
Here we pause at a pastry shop to taste and purchase the famous almond paste made in Erice.
In the afternoon we visit the archaeological site at Selinunte to admire remains of the temple and Greek acropolis. PContinue towards Agrigento.
Check-in at hotel and overnight stay.
Day 4: Agrigento - Taormina Mare
Breakfast in the hotel. Visit to the Valley of the Temples, including the temples of Juno, Concordia, Heracles and Zeus.
Departure for Taormina Mare.
Arrival with hotel check-in and overnight stay.
Day 5: Taormina Mare - Etna - Taormina
Breakfast in hotel. Morning excursion to Mount Etna, the highest point in Sicily and the most active volcano in Europe. You will be amazed by the wide variety of vegetation and landscapes along the journey to the Silvestri craters.
From this point it is possible to continue the voyage by jeep.
Pause at a local bee-keeper to taste local honey and observe how it is produced.
Afternoon visit to Taormina, located on a rocky plain at the foot of Monte Tauro, an dominating the Ionic coast from Capo Sant'Andrea to Capo Taormina.
Return to hotel and overnight stay
Day 6: Taormina Mare - Noto - Ragusa - Siracusa
Breakfast in hotel.
The entire day is dedicated to touring. The first stop is Noto, one of Sicily's Baroque beauties.
The tour continues towards Ragusa, a highlight of Baroque architecture. Try typical Sicilian products in a charming bar in the main piazza in front of the Duomo, the Basilica of San Giorgio.
The tour continues towards Siracusa.
Day 7: Siracusa - Cefalù
Breakfast in hotel. Guided tour of Siracusa, one of Sicily's most important archaeological sites. We will visit the archaeological park the Roman amphitheatre, the Greek theatre, the Ear of Dionysius, the Cordari excavations and Ortigia island, the oldest part of Siracusa.
The day ends in Cefalù on the Tyrrhenian coast. Check-in at hotel and overnight stay.
Day 8: Cefalù - Palermo
Breakfast in hotel. Free day, with departure for Palermo. Evening arrival. Check-in at hotel and overnight stay.
Day 9: Palermo. Tour ends. It is possible to combine your stay with 3 or more nights on the Eolie Islands or in Tuscany.
